Mini Review-The Girls she Left Behind by Sarah Graves

This is a pretty standard thriller novel featuring a female deputy sheriff (previously badass Boston detective) working in rural Maine. She finds herself investigating the case of a missing child which lures her into a decades-long mystery. The story takes place against the backdrop of a brutal winter accompanied by massive firestorms threatening to destroy the small town. This story was decent enough but I feel like I’ve read it before. It had several cliches and twists, as well as an improbable villain and ending. It was a relatively quick read and a good way to pass the time if you’re looking for something a bit mindless but a little exciting.

I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
