Book signing – Messy by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan

The Fug Girls, Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan, were in Boston this week to promote their second YA novel, Messy. They did a book reading and signing at Brookline Booksmith in Coolidge Corner. The Girls first did a brief reading from the book in the basement/event area, making sure to highlight the characters of Brook and Max (and name dropping the fabulously monikered Moxie Stilts).

But really, we were all there (and the place was packed), not only to hear tidbits about the book and writing process, but also to get some insider info on their hilarious fashion/gossip blog, Go Fug Yourself , and Jessica and Heather did not disappoint. They shared some awesome stories about being contacted by various publicists, and even a celebrity wife who invited them over to her house! They also treated us to their “origin” story, and who writes the Britney Spears and J-Lo pieces (“Hey yall!” and “Hola Lover!”). I definitely enjoyed the fashion week stories the best (I KNEW Posh was really actually friendly under that scowl). Happily, The Girls are as hilarious as they are in their blog!

After the reading and question/answer part, Jessica and Heather signed books upstairs in the main section of the bookstore. They were super sweet and gracious, taking the time to chat with everyone individually. It was a lovely evening, and I have to give props to Brookline Booksmith for being wicked cute (I definitely did some shopping after I got my books signed), and having really fun and sweet staff.
